Fractional Community Manager (Contract)

We are seeking a fractional Community Manager to help build and operate a growing professional Slack community focused on learning, collaboration, and peer exchange. This is a contract role designed for someone who can provide steady, ongoing support on a fractional basis. The role is responsible for creating a well-run, engaging online environment and supporting virtual events that bring members together.

Key Responsibilities:

•Establish and operationalize our Slack community, including channel structure, onboarding workflows, and community norms

• Facilitate conversations and dialogues to encourage active participation and peer exchange

• Maintain and moderate Slack channels to ensure discussions stay productive, organized, and aligned with community goals

• Welcome new members and support ongoing engagement and retention

• Plan and coordinate online events, including Zoom webinars and virtual discussions

• Provide light event production support such as scheduling, logistics, and follow-up communication

• Track community activity and suggest improvements to strengthen engagement

• Support social media promotion and community-related content as needed

Qualifications:

• Experience managing or moderating online communities, preferably in a professional or learning-focused setting

• Strong written communication skills and an ability to foster constructive dialogue

• Comfort with Slack, Zoom, and related collaboration tools

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and take initiative in shaping community processes

• Background in health or the healthcare sector is a plus

• Social media experience is a plus
