Flutter Developer Needed to Build MVP App for Smart Scale - Contract to Hire

We are building a next-generation health app for a smart weight scale and are looking for a skilled Flutter developer to help us turn our existing Canva design into a fully working MVP and launch it on both iOS and Android.
You will receive the Canva Design and a Bluetooth protocol from the scale manufacturer. The goal is to go from design → working app → App Store / Google Play submission. We will also send you the actual scale so you can try it.
About the App
The app is a companion app for a smart scale that measures body composition and calculates health scores.
The MVP consists of:
Onboarding flow
3 main screen types (Home, Category, Detail – see PDF)
Settings
Bluetooth connection to the scale
Authentication (account creation, login, password reset)
Smooth transitions, basic animations, and micro-interactions
Tech Requirements
Flutter (single codebase for iOS + Android)
Bluetooth Low Energy integration (we provide full protocol from hardware partner)
Authentication flow (email + password, reset)
Basic charts (time series, trends, population ranges)
Clean architecture so the app can scale later
We will:
Provide full UI in Canva + PDF
Provide Bluetooth protocol
Ship you the actual smart scale so you can test with real hardware
Handle App Store / Play Store texts, screenshots, and branding (you focus only on technical submission)
Budget & Long-Term Vision
Budget for this MVP is $600. I know this is below standard rates, but I am bootstrapping this company myself. I am planning to raise funding in March once the MVP is live and then we are able to pay more. At that point, the right developer will:
Continue as our long-term Flutter lead
Become part of the core team
Own the app architecture and future features (AI insights, subscriptions, advanced analytics, etc.)
This is not a one-off gig. This is the start of a long-term product.
What We’re Looking For
Strong Flutter experience
Experience with BLE / hardware integration is a big plus
Ability to move fast and build clean MVPs
Product mindset (not just “ticket execution”)
Someone excited to grow with an early-stage health tech startup
