Florida Litigation Attorney – Debt Defense (1099 Contract, $40-55/hr) (Remote)
We are a commercial litigation law firm licensed in Arizona and New York, with a primary focus on merchant cash advance lawsuit defense and consumer debt lawsuit defense. We have a proven track record of successfully defending clients against aggressive creditor claims, and we are now expanding our services into Florida.
We are seeking a licensed Florida attorney to help oversee our Florida practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced litigator to take on a leadership role in building and directing our Florida debt defense operations.
Position Overview
The Florida Litigation Attorney will be engaged on a 1099 independent contractor basis and compensated at $40-$55 per hour, depending on experience, for a range of 15-30 hours per week. You will provide substantial oversight over our Florida caseload, handle court appearances, and ensure that all client matters are managed in compliance with Florida law.
Position: Part-Time Litigation Attorney
Location: Remote (Florida License and Residency Required)
Compensation: $40-55 per hour DOE (1099 contractor)
Hours: 15-30 hours per week, with potential for growth
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as lead Florida counsel for all debt defense lawsuits including but not limited to merchant cash advance and credit card lawsuit defense matters.
• Oversee, manage, and work with support staff for each Florida case from inception to resolution.
• Handle all court appearances, hearings, mediations, and depositions as needed.
• Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
• Provide strategic case direction and collaborate with the Arizona/New York partners.
• Ensure compliance with Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and applicable debt collection laws.
• Maintain proactive client communication and manage expectations.
• Communicate with prospective clients via consultations.
Qualifications:
• Active and in good standing license to practice law in Florida.
• Minimum 1+ years of litigation experience, preferably in consumer debt defense, commercial litigation, or creditor-debtor disputes.
• Strong courtroom presence and experience handling hearings and motions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Comfortable overseeing multiple cases simultaneously.
Preferred Experience
• Prior representation in merchant cash advance or credit card lawsuit defense cases.
• Experience negotiating settlements and alternative dispute resolutions.
• Familiarity with creditor rights, debt collection practices, and Florida-specific defenses.
