Flexible contract/gig opportunity in Milwaukee. This Milwaukee -based role is an excellent opportunity for professionals skilled in Customer Service . Our Bering Air team in Milwaukee, WI is growing. Benefit from working in Milwaukee , a key hub for the Airlines, Aviation, Customer Service, Logistics, Rural Operations industry. About Bering Air: Bering Air is a vital 'Alaskan airline' based in Nome, Alaska. We provide essential passenger, mail, and cargo services to over 30 remote villages and communities across Western Alaska. We operate a diverse fleet of 'turboprop and small aircraft' (like the CASA C-212, King Air, and Cessna Caravan) in one of the most challenging and beautiful flying environments in the world. We are seeking a 'multi-talented' and 'resilient' individual to join our team as a Flight Attendant / Cabin Assistant. This is 'not a typical' Flight Attendant role. 'No experience' as a traditional flight attendant is required, but experience in 'rural Alaska' and a strong 'customer service' background are highly valued. This is a 'part-time' role perfect for someone who is community-oriented and thrives on variety. Your New Career – The Role: As a Bering Air Cabin Assistant, you are often the 'sole' crew member in the cabin of our smaller passenger aircraft. Your primary role is 'passenger safety and comfort'. However, this role goes 'beyond' traditional flight attendant duties. You will be responsible for passenger check-in, boarding, safety briefings, and in-flight monitoring. Given our operations, you will also be assisting with 'cargo loading' and ensuring the 'weight and balance' of the aircraft cabin is correct. You must be 'self-reliant', resourceful, and able to handle a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision. This job requires living in 'Nome, Alaska' and being available for a flexible 'day shift' schedule, often including 'weekend shift' flying. Flights are dependent on weather, so 'adaptability' is key. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: 'No experience' as an FAA-certified flight attendant is required. You will receive comprehensive, 'paid on-the-job training' in Nome. This training will cover: * 'Aircraft Familiarization:' You will learn the specifics of our fleet (CASA, King Air, etc.), including door operation, safety equipment, and cabin configurations. * 'Safety Procedures:' You will be trained on all safety and emergency procedures relevant to 'small aircraft' operations in the 'Arctic environment'. * 'Passenger Handling:' You will learn our check-in procedures, how to conduct a 'personalized' safety briefing, and how to assist passengers with special needs. * 'Cargo & Weight/Balance:' A critical part of the role, you will be trained on how to properly load and secure passenger baggage and small cargo within the cabin to ensure the aircraft remains safe and balanced. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your day is 'unpredictable' and deeply tied to the community and the weather. * 'Morning Check-In:' You'll arrive at our Nome hangar/terminal. Your 'day shift' starts by checking the flight schedule and weather. You'll prepare your aircraft, ensuring it's clean and stocked with any required safety items. * 'Passenger & Cargo:' You will greet passengers in the terminal, check them in, and 'personally weigh' their baggage. You will then escort them to the aircraft, assisting them with boarding. You will be 'physically active', loading baggage and small cargo boxes into the cabin or designated cargo areas, ensuring everything is secure. * 'In-Flight:' Before takeoff, you will provide a 'one-on-one' or small group safety briefing. During the short flight to a village, you will monitor the cabin, ensure passengers are comfortable, and be ready to assist if needed. There is 'no' traditional beverage or meal service. * 'Village Turn:' Upon landing on a 'remote gravel runway', you will assist passengers with deplaning, help unload their baggage and cargo, and then prepare the cabin for the return flight, which may include new passengers or mail bound for Nome. Your day may consist of several of these 'turn' flights. Why Bering Air? This is more than a job; it's a 'lifestyle' and a vital 'service to the community'. You are a critical link for the people of Western Alaska. You'll work with a close-knit, supportive team. This 'part-time' role offers a 'flexible schedule' (mostly 'day shift' flying) and is perfect for someone already established in the 'Nome community'. You'll experience a type of flying and a 'connection to your passengers' that is impossible to find at a large airline.
