Fleet Body Technician- Entry Level/Learning Experience
Overview/Function: The Fleet Body Technician is responsible for the daily service and maintenance of the companys fleet vehicles and equipment (route delivery trucks, corporate cars, tractors, trailers, forklifts, pallet-jacks, etc.), to ensure a safe and efficient fleet of vehicles.
This position will be entry-level and provide a learning experience to successful candidates. Therefore, no previous experience is required just an interest in maintenance!
Will learn to/assist with:
ā¢ Perform preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment (which will include the use of diagnostic equipment)
ā¢ Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform repairs from preventative maintenance to component replacements
ā¢ Diagnose and troubleshoot general vehicle operating systems
ā¢ Document work performed, prepare vehicle records and reports in writing and electronically
ā¢ Work with other technicians or independently in performing preventative maintenance and repairs
ā¢ Perform necessary adjustments in equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations and prepare required safety documentation
ā¢ Perform paint and bodywork on vehicles, as required
ā¢ Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
ā¢ Regular, consistent attendance is an essential job function.
ā¢ Perform other duties as required
This position is eligible to be either part-time/ full-time.
Experience & Qualifications:
ā¢ High School Diploma (or GED)
ā¢ Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks
ā¢ Valid drivers license may be required depending on work assignment
ā¢ Computer skills including email, maintenance programs, and diagnostic systems
ā¢ Thorough knowledge of late model gas and diesel engines and on-board computers preferred
ā¢ Experience using oxygen/acetylene equipment (cutting, heating, bending, fabricating equipment during repair) preferred
ā¢ Experience using lifting devices (bottle, floor, wheel, or transmission jacks, floor cranes, etc.) preferred
ā¢ Experience using precision measurement instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, electronic multimeters/testers, A/C charging station, etc.) preferred
ā¢ Able to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
ā¢ Ability to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual and automatic transmission
ā¢ Ability to enter and exit the drivers compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normal available footholds and handholds
ā¢ Good written and verbal communication skills
ā¢ Other duties as required.
Additional:
ā¢ Regional travel will be required (up to 50% of the time) to support our multiple locations. This includes overnight travel.
ā¢ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position will be office-based, however will spend time at each of our facilities (offices, warehouse, body shop, maintenance). As such a variety of abilities are needed, as the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, kneel, and bend as needed. The ability to climb stairs, stand, walk, twist, grasp, reach, push, pull, sit, stoop, crouch, and climb will be required. The employee may occasional lift, push, pull, and/or move items of up to 55 lbs.
ā¢ The typical hours will be Monday-Friday role (8:00 am 5:00 pm) however some evening and weekend work may be required. The Fleet Manager will be on-call for fleet-related issues.
