As a Fitness Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the fitness and recreation needs of our students, staff, and faculty, while promoting a culture of wellness and inclusivity on campus.

The BC Wellness Center works to enhance the campus climate and enrich the quality of life on campus by providing high-quality fitness programs and services. As a Fitness Technician, you will be an essential part of this effort, supporting the fitness needs of our students and promoting a culture of wellness and inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities


Provide excellent support services to students, staff, and faculty users of the Fitness Center during Open Access Lab Hours.
Verify approved access for students, staff, and faculty upon entry.
Provide basic exercise education, safety spotting, and exercise resources provided by the Health and Physical Education (HPE) department.
Maintain and monitor facility safety and cleanliness, including daily cleaning responsibilities such as wiping down equipment, refreshing cleaning supplies, and daily organization of lab equipment.
Demonstrate effective communication skills, time management skills, and a willingness to accept responsibility.
Show a sincere interest in helping others and a commitment to Bellevue College's mission, values, and diversity.


Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must:


Be a currently enrolled BC student.
Have Exercise Education Experience, either through completion of the BC Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT) program or one (1) year work experience in the exercise field.
Be able to complete professional certification within one (1) year of start date.
Be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Be able to lift, carry, or move up to 50lbs, multiple times per shift.
Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or greater and remain in good standing with the College.


Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:


Knowledge of the Student Engagement office and associated services and resources.
Knowledge of the BC Benefits Hub services.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience working with varied populations with little to no previous exercise education.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $17.50. While this position is not eligible for benefits due to its temporary and part-time nature, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and develop your skills and knowledge in the fitness industry.
