Fire Investigator/Electrical Engineer, HYBRID (Vancouver, British Columbia)
SCM Insurance Services is seeking a dynamic and motivated Fire Investigator/Electrical Engineer to join their team. The role involves performing forensic fire investigations to determine the origin and cause of structure and vehicle fires, while also engaging in various projects across different sectors.ResponsibilitiesAssess, analyze and research cause and origin of fires where electrical components and equipment are involvedInterview witnesses, service personnel and other local officialsInspections shall include, but not be limited to, roofs, attics, crawlspaces, partially destroyed buildings, fire damaged buildings, and elevated structuresExperience determining product design, defects, and electrical forensic failure analysisExperience investigating electrical and mechanical equipment’s such as air conditioners, power saws, refrigerators, power drills, elevator controllers, elevators, escalators etcAble to recognize potential subrogation opportunitiesThe ability to climb, work at heights, and work at all temperatures is requiredThe ability to assess the general safety of fire damaged structures is essentialLead projects from start to finishProvide clear, accurate, and timely reportsSkillsGraduating/recent graduate/engineer-in-training with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineeringLicensure in a provincial Engineering Association, or ability to become licensed a mustMust have valid G license, and ability to work in remote areas, as well as in a range of temperatures and weather conditionsMust have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and good command of the English languageA demonstrated track record of taking projects to successful completionProficiency in standard Microsoft Office (MS Word, Outlook & Excel)A willingness and passion to learnA willingness to support the marketing and sales department through attendance at presentations and industry eventsAbility to discuss projects budgets with clients and maintain continuous communication throughout the projectStrong written and verbal communication skills are a mustWorking knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs is a mustThe ability to climb, work at heights, and work at all temperatures is requiredThe ability to assess the general safety of fire damaged structures is essentialExperience within the insurance and legal industry is an assetGood presentation skills are an assetBenefitsCompetitive Pay: $56,300.00 - $78,100.00 CAD AnnualWork-Life BalanceRemote and Hybrid Work OpportunitiesE-flex Benefits ProgramWellness ProgramsRegistered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), including a 2% match for full-time employeesTraining and Career Development OpportunitiesEmployee Referral BonusesEmployee Recognition ProgramEmployee Perks (access to vendor discount programs)Reimbursement for Adjusting Licenses and DuesCompany OverviewSCM Insurance Services offers a suite of comprehensive insurance solutions.
