Fire Fiscal Analyst 1 (FA1)

The State of Washington's Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Fire Fiscal Analyst 1 to support the South Puget Sound Fire Program. The role involves providing fiscal support, maintaining records for large fires, and assisting in preparing monthly fire suppression reports. Responsibilities Primary fiscal support for South Puget Sound Fire Program for Payroll, Benefits, Reimbursements, Travel & Credit Cards Provide Fire Finance Training to seasonal and permanent staff, fire service cooperators and casual hires Responsible for maintaining records for large fires within South Puget Sound Region according to State and Agency policies, procedures, and guidelines Assist Region Fire Cost Analyst in preparing monthly fire suppression reporting of actual & estimated costs to be included in the Agency’s Fire Cost Reporting requirements for the State Legislature Provide support to our cooperative partners at the region, state & federal levels according to Interagency Agreement, Local Operating Plan, Master Agreement, Wage & Equipment Rates and OFM Travel rules & regulations Skills One year of fiscal technical experience Experience in setting priorities to meet work deadlines and produce results Experience with Payroll and Accounts Payable Experience using Adobe Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel in a professional setting Experience using software such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc Experience extracting/generating reports from multiple financial reporting systems in multiple formats (Excel, CSV, PDF), preparing financial reports & statements Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies, laws, and practices – GAAP Ability to make decisions within delegated authority Commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and public records retention and requests DNR Core Competencies: Personal Accountability, Value Others, Compassionate Communication, Inspire Others, Commitment to Excellence Experience successfully prioritizing work with inflexible and conflicting deadlines Associate degree or higher in accounting, auditing, or budgeting Knowledge of the Department of Natural Resources or OFM financial policies and procedures Fifteen (15) course credit hours of accounting, auditing, or budgeting Experience using SAP software such as NaturE or HRMS Experience with government fiscal operations Demonstrated aptitude to learn business computer software systems Benefits Commitment to organizational health and wellness Work/life balance DNR Employee Resource Groups (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, Women’s Employee Resource Group, Veterans Employee Resource Group, etc.) Statewide Employee Business Resource Groups, visit here to learn more Leadership that empowers and supports employees Professional development opportunities Educational and career development aid Public Service Loan Forgiveness Eligibility Opportunities to participate in wildland fire suppression assignments A comprehensive benefits package includes employer contributions toward health insurance, paid holidays, retirement plans, sick leave, and vacation days. Holidays Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year. Sick Leave Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Vacation (Annual Leave) Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at the rates specified in WAC 357-31-165(1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Military Leave Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Bereavement Leave Most employees whose family member or household member dies, or for loss of pregnancy, are entitled to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave.
