As a Financial Services Analyst, you’ll take on professional-level accounting, payroll, and auditing work guided by generally accepted accounting principles, government auditing standards, and AOC procedures. You’ll work independently within defined areas, handling tasks that are essential to the integrity and efficiency of our financial operations. While much of the work is routine, your contributions will be reviewed and approved to ensure compliance and accuracy. This position is more than just numbers; it’s about keeping our systems running smoothly and ensuring statutory payment deadlines are met. You’ll play a critical role in managing key financial systems, including Judicial Information System (JIS) invoicing, oversight of travel reimbursements and QuickBooks processes. These responsibilities are vital for accurate financial tracking, reconciliation, and reporting. POSITION DETAILS Job #: 2026-003 Status: Regular, Full-Time Location: Olympia, Washington Salary: Range 56: $63,252 - $82,872 per year (DOQ). Opens: January 7, 2026 Closes: January 19, 2026. WASHINGTON STATE RESIDENCY AND TELEWORK INFORMATION AOC requires employees to reside in Washington State. Any exceptions must be approved. This position requires you to be in the office at least three (3) days per week. Some of the duties you will perform are: • Prepare and maintain financial reports, ledger accounts, and journal vouchers; reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy in accordance with established standards. • Handle accounts payable and receivable, including contracts, reimbursements, refunds, and invoice preparation for AFRS system entry. • Processing travel reimbursements and direct hotel billing invoices • Support Education team with reconciliation of Judicial Checking account, payment processing, and receivables. • Review and verify critical financial data such as budget codes, approvals, receipts, and payment types to maintain compliance. • Respond to inquiries regarding invoices and payments, and assist with financial analysis, reporting, and development of internal procedures. • Support business improvement initiatives and collaborate with senior staff on financial summaries and process enhancements. • Maintenance of JIS customer accounts in QuickBooks including monthly invoice billing. • Performs other duties as required. A combination of relevant education and experience demonstrating a working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the Financial Services Analyst may be considered in the meeting the qualifications. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely allied field INCLUDING 10 Semester or 15 quarter hours of college level accounting OR • Two (2) years of experience in fiscal bookkeeping or fiscal recordkeeping; AND • 10 Semester or 15 quarter hours of college level accounting. THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL ALSO HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and use time and resources effectively to achieve goals. • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including identifying tasks, timelines, risks, and proposing solutions. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships. • Adaptability and flexibility in a changing environment, with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service. • Commitment to accuracy and quality, with attention to detail and accountability for timely, error-free work. • Working knowledge of basic accounting practices, state governmental accounting procedures, automated accounting systems, and standard office software applications. • Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and adaptable to new technologies and systems. • Highly organized multitasker with strong time management, decision-making, and the ability to work collaboratively across agencies. • The workweek may fluctuate depending on workload or agency needs. • Overnight travel may be required based on business needs. • This position may be overtime eligible.
