Penn State University is inviting applications for the position of Finance Planning Analyst within the College of Education. The role involves supporting budget management, financial controls, and policy procedures while providing training and oversight for financial operations.ResponsibilitiesAdvise departments on budget management, financial controls, and policy and procedureProvide and/or coordinate training for employees working with unit budgetsEstablish, document, and implement processes, procedures, systems, and standards for the efficient operation of the office and across the CollegeReconciliation and management of ledger and clearing accounts for business areas; make adjustments as needed and resolve problemsCompile data for analysis and forecasting purposes; run reports as needed for business areasProvide both formal and informal training across business areasMaintain controls for business areas; manage authorizations; assign roles as neededProvide review and approval of financial documents, transactions, etcAssign budget sources for expenditures to ensure visibility of spend on special budgetsAnalyze and verify funding sources to ensure appropriate spending and billing practicesPrepare forecasts and analysis of trends in general business conditions and other related areasResponsible for performing assigned audit functions; assist with annual processes for business areas, including annual salary increase and initial operating budget preparationReview and approve business expenses and ensure compliance with university policiesPrepare financial summaries and any other specialized reports for presentationsSkillsBachelor's DegreeNo prior relevant work experience required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptedSuccessful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policiesSuccessful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checksApplicants must be authorized to work in the U.SBenefitsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverageRobust retirement plansSubstantial paid time off which includes holidays, vacation and sick timeGenerous 75% tuition discount, available to employees as well as eligible spouses and childrenCompany OverviewThere’s a reason Penn State consistently ranks among the top one percent of the world’s universities.
