Fashion Designer Needed | Tech Pack for Men's Absorbent Trunk Brief
ABOUT:
We are a men's absorbent boxer briefs brand solving a specific, embarrassing problem most men have: post-void dribble, the small amount of residual urine that leaks out after using the bathroom, creating a visible pee stain on the front of your pants or shorts often without you even knowing it.
Underwear looks and feels like a normal boxer brief with a discreet integrated absorbent front pouch.
THE PROBLEM WITH WHAT'S OUT THERE
1. Pads and inserts: Designed for women or the elderly. Bulky, crinkly, and visible through clothing. No man in his 30s is putting a pad in his underwear.
2. Adult diapers: Designed for full incontinence. Thick, loud, and built for nursing homes. Completely irrelevant for someone who just needs light everyday protection.
3. Existing absorbent underwear: The absorbent pouch that is visibly thick, stiff, and boxy. Underwear is noticable through clothing. These products were designed for older men who prioritize function over appearance.
THE PRODUCT
- Target Demographic: Men Age 25-45
- Target Absorbency: No visible stain on pants/shorts after 15-25 ML of urine dribble
- Style: Men's mid-rise trunk brief (Hanes / Calvin Klein / Tommy John)
- Pouch Requirement: Must lie completely flat and flexible under clothing. It doesn't bunch up and the pouch's thickness or shape in a way You can't see it through thin pants/shorts. keep it from passing through, neutralize odor and dry quickly.
- Fit: A snug, streamlined fit. Designed to stay put without riding up, or bunching.
- Machine washable: Machine washable. Must maintain full absorbency and shape after repeated wash cycles. Machine wash and tumble dry safe. No special care required.
- Odor Control: Odor protection to ensure no smell is noticed after leaks are absorbed.
- Size range: S / M / L / XL / 2XL, sample size M
- Branding: Have branding represented on the underwear either on the waistband or on the inside label
THE PROJECT
We need a designer to build a complete, manufacturer-ready tech pack from the ground up. We will provide product requirements, reference brands, and competitor examples. You bring the technical expertise, CAD skills, and apparel construction knowledge to turn our vision into a document a factory can produce from.
DELIVERABLES
- Professional CAD flat sketches (front view, back view, and detail callouts) in Adobe Illustrator
- Absorbent pouch exploded cross-section illustration showing all 3 layers
- Fabric formatted to manufacturer standard
- Graded specification table (S to 2XL, all measurements in cm)
- Construction diagrams showing stitch and seam types
- Artwork and label placement diagrams
- Final PDF (Attached)
- Editable source file (.AI or equivalent)
- Two rounds of revisions included
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years creating production-ready tech packs for apparel manufacturers
- Experience with men's underwear, specifically trunk or boxer brief construction
- Experience with performance, activewear, or functional underwear
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for technical flat sketches
- Familiarity with multi-layer construction and TPU laminate fabrics
- Understanding of seam types: flatlock, coverstitch, 4-thread overlock
- Experience creating tech packs for manufacturers in NZ, EU, or Asia
NICE TO HAVE
- Previous work with absorbent or performance underwear brands
- Experience with thin, low-profile absorbent layer construction
- Experience with contoured pouch construction for men's underwear
- Experience with moisture management or technical fabric construction
- Knowledge of OEKO-TEX or bluesign certified supply chains
