The ACLU seeks a Graduate or Undergraduate Intern in the Communications and Marketing Department of the ACLU’s National office. This is a remote position that can be part-time or full-time. The intern must be based in the U.S.

The Team:

The ACLU Communications and Marketing department creates, maintains, and expands message narratives to engage our supporters and other target audiences, to help protect and expand civil liberties and civil rights, and illustrate the value and impact of the ACLU’s transformational work. Through our messaging, engagement with newsmakers, our written content, creative branding, and visual identity, we encourage support for the ACLU and help to build a more perfect union.

What You’ll Do:

The Social Media Intern will be responsible for assisting the ACLU’s social media team in researching, producing, scheduling, and measuring the performance of content posted across Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, Facebook, and emerging platforms as needed.

Your Day to Day
• Produce social media content for Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, and Facebook as needed
• Assist social media editors in scheduling content, including during rapid response moments
• Prepare analytics reports with assistance from social media editors or the social media manager

What You’ll Bring:
• Experience using TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter for professional, academic, or extracurricular purposes, experience using these platforms for advocacy or organizing work a plus
• Attention to detail, excellent written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Internship Logistics:
• Location: Our internship program offers a limited number of remote or hybrid intern positions. This internship is remote and can be full-time or part-time and can by remote from our NY National office.
• Time Commitment: Part-time (20 hours/week) or Full-time (35 hours/week).
• Internship Duration: Full-time internships span 10 consecutive weeks and part-time 12 weeks. This internship has a start date of: September 9th or September 23rd
• Stipend: A stipend is available for students who are lawfully authorized to work. Arrangements can be made with educational institutions for work/study or course credit.
• Below are the stipend rates:
• $20/hr for undergraduate students or equivalent experience
• $24/hr for graduate and law students or equivalent experience
