Location: Canada (Remote with travel)Reports to: Head of Region About FairWindFairWind is a global leader in wind turbine installation, service, and maintenance. Headquartered in Denmark, FairWind delivers full-scope project execution and operations support to leading OEMs and developers such as Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, GE, and Nordex, operating in over 40 countries worldwide. Role SummaryThe Head of Operations & Business Development, Canada will lead and grow FairWind’s commercial and operational footprint within the Canadian market. This executive role combines strategic business development (identifying, securing, and managing new contracts) with hands-on operational leadership (overseeing service delivery, workforce, and profitability). The position requires deep understanding of the Canadian wind sector, strong client relationship management, and the ability to align FairWind’s global standards with local execution. Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Commercial GrowthIdentify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in Canada for installation, service, and repowering projects.Build and maintain relationships with key clients (OEMs, wind farm owners, developers, and EPCs).Develop and execute market entry and expansion strategies aligned with FairWind’s global goals.Collaborate with global commercial teams to structure bids, negotiate contracts, and manage client portfolios.Monitor market trends, competition, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decisions.Operations LeadershipOversee all Canadian operational activities, including project delivery, site safety, cost management, and workforce utilization.Lead the deployment of technicians and subcontractors for installation, O&M, and blade service projects.Ensure adherence to all FairWind HSE and ISO-certified quality systems.Drive efficiency and profitability across projects while maintaining safety and client satisfaction as top priorities.Coordinate with HR and Training teams to expand local technical capacity and apprenticeship programs.Leadership & Organizational DevelopmentBuild and mentor a high-performing national team of operational and business development professionals.Represent FairWind Canada to clients, regulators, and industry partners.Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Provide accurate forecasting, budget management, and performance reporting to global leadership.Key CompetenciesStrategic and commercially driven mindset.Strong operational discipline and safety focus.Skilled in stakeholder engagement and contract negotiation.Ability to scale teams and build partnerships with training institutions.Proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-growing renewable energy environment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Renewable Energy, or related field (Master’s preferred).Minimum 10 years of experience in wind energy (installation, service, or O&M) with strong commercial and operational background.Proven P&L leadership and success in developing and executing market strategies.In-depth knowledge of the Canadian wind market, including Alberta and Ontario labour dynamics, regulations, and key industry players.Demonstrated ability to manage multi-site operations and large project portfolios.Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.Willingness to travel frequently to project sites across provinces.
