Pursuant to our community's needs, we offer exceptional same-day access to care and ensure that patients whose provider is unexpectedly away have access to a board-certified provider. Providers deliver same-day care to health center patients with a focus on acute conditions appropriate to the outpatient setting, making an immediate and palpable difference in our patient's lives. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Express care is defined same-day primary care, with the expectations of more procedures, higher acuity diagnoses, and hand-off to the patient's primary care provider (PCP) for follow-upDiagnose and treat urgent and non-urgent conditions in patients of all ages while communicating with their primary care provider as often as needed.Assess patient health through interviews and physical examinations, including virtual care.Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results using Wood River Health's approved documentation tools and according to our timeliness policies.Prescribes and/or administer appropriate medications, treatments, and perform procedures included in their privileging including: suturing, routine cryosurgery, I & D of abscesses and paronychia, foreign body removal, and wound care including appropriate local anesthetic administrationFollow up on any labs, consultations, or imaging ordered and take appropriate actions per the Rhode Island Department of Health and Wood River Health's policies and procedures.Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.Recommend interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks, including referrals to integrated behavioral health.Collaborate with integrated behavioral health team and dental department for coordination of care, referring patients as appropriate.Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.Counsel patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other substances such as food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remediesUtilize Wood River Health's on-site pharmacy resources when appropriateDetect and respond to adverse drug reactions, with special attention to vulnerable populations such as infants, children, pregnant and lactating women.Coordinate and assist when needed with the patient's PCP in the management of chronic conditions.Plan, implement, or administer health programs or standards in hospitals, businesses, or communities for prevention or treatment of injury or illness.Administrative time and clinical meetings are as scheduled by the Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.Participate in call schedule and Saturday rotationAPPs provide care under the indirect supervision of the Medical Director and/or a Supervising Physician.Peer review and quality improvement activities as expected of all medical staff, including maintenance of applicable state licensing and board certification(s)Collaborates cooperatively with all personnel of the agency, including participating in the group call schedule.Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters, operating within the scope of the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act to safeguard the privacy of protected patient health informationEnliven and support the mission, vision, and values of WRHAdhere to the WRH Compliance Program StandardsMaintain behavior consistent with exceptional professional standards with patients, peers, and Wood River employeesFor those electing to perform 50% primary care, in addition to the above, the following must be performed:Daily Previsit planning for patients scheduled next weekDaily Huddle to organize the team for today's visitsAll other NCQA PCMH expectationsPerforming other duties as assignedPosition Qualifications:Graduate from an accredited MD, DO, FNP, DNP or PA training program is requiredActive Rhode Island Physician, NP or PA license in good standingActive DEA in good standing Current National Board CertificationMinimum 3 years' experience as family practice provider, emergency department or urgent care experience is preferred.Up to date, ongoing CME to update skills/therapies, as per Rhode Island Department of Health regulations.Experience with women's health issues, and medication assisted therapy is expected but not required at time of hireWood River Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation and gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal law.
