Job Overview Location: New York City, NY (with remote and in-person opportunities) Position: Experienced Tutor Start Date: Immediate openings available, with expected programming start in late September Compensation: Competitive salary with rates starting at $130 for a 3-hour in-person placement/residency Key Responsibilities As a Tutor at The Leadership Program, you will be responsible for providing individualized support to students in various subjects, ensuring they grasp key concepts and develop essential skills. Your primary responsibilities will include: Working independently to implement programming in NYC public schools, with a focus on mentoring and facilitation through our unique student-centered approach Providing one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to students in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet individual learning needs Assessing students' strengths and weaknesses to create customized learning plans Reviewing and reinforcing classroom lessons and assignments Helping students develop effective study skills and time management techniques Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching strategies as needed Managing detailed records of tutoring sessions and student progress Communicating regularly with parents, teachers, and school staff to provide updates on student performance Staying up-to-date with curriculum changes and educational best practices Attending staff meetings and training sessions Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity, you should possess the following skills and qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher A minimum of two years of experience working in city public schools or equivalent Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred Strong subject matter expertise in the subjects you will tutor Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work well and collaborate with team members Strong classroom management skills Experience with Social Emotional Learning framework a plus Technological capacity to provide virtual facilitation if needed, as well as knowledge of virtual platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, etc. Experience in Anti-Racist Education and Restorative Justice is a major plus Already fingerprinted or willing to be fingerprinted through the State Department of Education What We Offer As a member of The Leadership Program team, you will enjoy a range of benefits and opportunities, including: Competitive salary and bi-weekly paycheck Opportunities for professional growth and development Performance coaching and mindfulness training Mental health counseling and legal consultations Financial literacy program and access to rehearsal space and maker space Event and attraction discounts Earn specialized skill credentials Belonging to a community network of professional artists, educators, and activists Contributing to positive change in the lives of NYC youth and communities Why Join Our Team?
