Job Summary As a Temporary Seasonal Juvenile Supervision Officer I/Youth Engagement Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing direct care supervision to youth in our facilities, utilizing trauma-informed practices to promote positive behavior and development. This is a temporary/seasonal position, restricted to a maximum of 130 calendar days per year, offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our youth. You will be responsible for maintaining a daily focus on our department's service philosophy, emphasizing Developmental Assets, Developmental Relationships, SPARK identification, Motivational Interviewing, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Key Responsibilities Supervise and redirect youth behavior using appropriate trauma-focused interventions when necessary Oversee daily activities of residents, including education, physical education, group activities, hygiene, housekeeping chores, meals, visitations, and more Conduct and/or coordinate social casework activities, including intake, admission, and release of residents, and complete all necessary paperwork Complete daily documentation reports, including youth behavior and progress reports Operate departmental and personal vehicles to transport residents as needed Maintain a clean and safe living environment in designated facilities Comply with departmental/countywide policies and Texas Juvenile Justice Department standards Perform other duties as assigned Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Be at least 21 years of age per Texas Administrative Code Section 344.200 Not have a disqualifying criminal history as defined in Texas Administrative Code Chapter 344 Valid driver's license (required within thirty days of employment) Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) Juvenile Supervision Officer certification (required within six months of employment) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification (required within six months of employment) First aid certification (required within six months of employment) Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification (required within six months of employment) Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) trained (required within six months of employment) Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: One year of experience working with youth (i.e., teaching, counseling, coaching, mentoring, etc.) Bachelor's degree in a related field Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with youth, families, and colleagues Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and principles Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Williamson County Juvenile Services, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our employees.
