Key Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the educational needs of students and develop strategies to address these needs Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment Provide instruction and support in areas such as Braille, assistive technology, and daily living skills Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the support and services they need Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in the field of visual impairment and special education Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge Essential Qualifications Graduate from a teaching program with a specialization in visual impairment or a related field Current license as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) in California Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school-based setting Strong knowledge of assistive technology, Braille, and other adaptive tools Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in special education, visual impairment, or a related field Experience with curriculum development and implementation Knowledge of assessment and evaluation tools used in the field of visual impairment Experience working with students with multiple disabilities or complex needs Fluency in more than one language Skills and Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills Strong commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and equity Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At The Stepping Stones Group, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our educators.
