Job Summary As a Supervisor Custodian, you will be responsible for managing custodial work and acting as a building guardian for assigned schools within the Anchorage School District. Key Responsibilities Supervise and train custodial staff to ensure efficient and effective cleaning and maintenance of school facilities Conduct regular inspections to ensure that schools meet the required cleanliness standards Assign workload, evaluate employee performance, and maintain accurate records and reports Demonstrate procedures and methods to employees and assist in training new staff members Maintain work procedures in accordance with Anchorage School District policies and union contracts Requisition supplies and equipment, and perform minor repairs to custodial equipment as needed Act as a low-key security presence during non-school hours and maintain a lone security watch when necessary Essential Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent education Three years of experience in custodial work and three years of experience in management or equivalent Good working knowledge of custodial skills and ability to supervise and train employees Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Valid Alaska driver's license Ability to obtain and maintain base access to JBER during employment at ASD Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and one of the following languages: Tagalog, Spanish, or Hmong Thorough knowledge of ASD building locations, interior layouts, and perimeter access points Ability to maintain low-key security, supervision, and control over groups using ASD buildings Ability to accept special assignments and perform them efficiently without supervision Ability to maintain effective relationships and work cooperatively with students, faculty, administrators, and the public Working knowledge of basic preventative maintenance of auto-scrubbers and related custodial power equipment Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to supervise and train employees effectively. You should also have a strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
