About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Substitute Teacher (Special Education) to join our team in Denver, CO. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of students, teachers, and school communities, while enjoying the flexibility of a remote role. Key Responsibilities


Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher
Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum
Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes
Exercise classroom and behavior management skills
Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students


Essential Qualifications


Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired)
Three References with one by a previous direct supervisor
Complete a Background Check for Scoot Education (you'll be reimbursed for the cost on your first paycheck!)
Complete a Background Check for the Colorado Department of Education (to receive your Substitute Authorization; you will not be reimbursed for the cost)


Preferred Qualifications


Experience working with students with special needs
Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching and classroom management
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to adapt to new environments and situations
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work with students of varying ages and abilities
