About the Role: Substitute Teacher We're seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our community of educators in West Milford, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. We're looking for individuals who are not only qualified but also driven to make a positive impact in the lives of their students. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher Develop and implement lesson plans, ensuring continuity and engagement for students Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment Communicate effectively with school staff, including teachers, administrators, and other support personnel Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your teaching practices Essential Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits NJ Substitute Credential Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot Education will cover the cost) Full COVID-19 vaccination A passion for education and putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role Special education or subject-specific expertise (e.g., Math, Science, Special Ed) Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups (Kinder, Early Years, Elementary, Middle, High School) What We Offer: Competitive pay rates: up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments Weekly pay schedule $0 onboarding costs: we reimburse expenses related to state background checks Ongoing support and professional development: 1:1 check-ins, online training, and a dedicated Scoot consultant Referral incentives: earn $100 gift cards for referring friends who work 10 shifts with Scoot Education W-2 employment: no fussing with taxes Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At Scoot Education, we're committed to helping you grow professionally and personally.
