About Our Team and the Role Our Conversational AI team is part of the Emerging Tech organization, dedicated to crafting innovative, state-of-the-art experiences both in-house and in collaboration with strategic partners. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be a key player in designing, building, testing, and deploying cutting-edge solutions that will shape the future of shopping. You'll provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of skilled engineers, engage with product management and business stakeholders to drive the agenda, and contribute to the tech community across geographies. Key Responsibilities Design, build, test, and deploy scalable, consumer-facing software solutions that impact millions of customers worldwide. Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a small group of highly skilled and motivated engineers. Collaborate with Walmart engineering teams across different geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community. Engage with Product Management and Business stakeholders to drive the agenda, set priorities, and deliver innovative products. Develop high-quality code, conduct unit testing, troubleshoot issues, and enhance design to prevent defects. Seek opportunities to improve software effectiveness and contribute to the growth of the engineering team. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: 7+ years of experience in designing and developing consumer-facing software. Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. A strong desire to drive change and adapt quickly to new challenges. Hands-on development skills to prototype technical solutions. Excellent oral and written communication skills. A good problem-solving attitude and analytical skills. The ability to balance long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions. Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies. Advanced Java and Python development experience with building highly scalable applications. Proficiency in Azure and GCP. Familiarity with NLP techniques and related algorithms. Either a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related area and 4 years of experience in software engineering, or 6 years of experience in software engineering or a related area. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Generative AI. Chat and Voice bot development experience. Proficiency in ReactJS or Angular. A Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related area and 2 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
