About the Role We are seeking an empathetic and attentive Special Needs Caregiver to join our team, providing in-home care to children, teenagers, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DDs). Your primary responsibility will be to follow individualized client care plans, providing periodic progress updates to the care team and ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of care and support. Key Responsibilities: Provide in-home care to children, teenagers, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DDs), following individualized client care plans Assist with personal care, including bathing/showering and toileting assistance, meal preparation, companionship, medication reminders, and light housekeeping Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, and care team members Communicate effectively with clients, families, and care team members to ensure seamless care and support Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance your skills and knowledge in caregiving Travel to different cities to provide care, as required (highly desired) Essential Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: Great communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, families, and care team members Problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions Reliability and punctuality, with a strong commitment to attending work and providing care as scheduled Ability to travel to different cities, as required (highly desired) Two professional references, with at least one reference confirming disability-related experience Proof of negative TB results, with test accommodations or waivers available if needed Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First Aid Certification(s), with reimbursement available for certification costs Preferred Qualifications: While not essential, the following preferred qualifications will be highly regarded: Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities Knowledge of disability-related laws and regulations, including the California Fair Chance Act and the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers Experience with individualized care planning and implementation Strong understanding of the importance of confidentiality and maintaining client privacy Skills and Competencies: To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Empathy and compassion, with a genuine passion for supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, families, and care team members Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to changing client needs and priorities Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At 24 Hour Home Care, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our caregivers.
