Job Highlights Start Date: Immediate openings available Company: Universal Health Services Compensation: a competitive salary Position: Experienced Special Education Teacher - Full Time Location: Petersburg, VA Job Description We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at Poplar Springs Hospital. As a member of our multi-disciplinary treatment team, you will provide educational instruction to students and participate in the development of individualized education plans (IEPs). Your expertise and passion for teaching will help our students achieve their academic and personal goals. Key Responsibilities Provide classroom instruction to students with varying learning needs, including those with emotional and behavioral challenges Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the treatment team Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet their needs Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices in special education Perform other duties as assigned by the treatment team or administrative staff Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Master's degree in Special Education or a related field A Virginia Provisional Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Special Education and Emotional Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities, or General Education Curriculum K-12 Current certification in CPR, HWC, and First Aid Current certification in medication management (Dayschool only) At least four years of experience teaching in an inpatient psychiatric setting Experience working with adolescents aged 11-17 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks Basic clerical skills and experience with Microsoft Office software Benefits As a member of our team, you will enjoy a range of benefits, including: A competitive salary Generous paid time off Excellent medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug plan 401(K) with company match and discounted stock plan SoFi Student Loan Refinancing Program Career development opportunities within UHS and its 300+ subsidiaries Retention Bonus Program (if applicable) Loan Forgiveness Program (if applicable) Work Environment and Culture At Poplar Springs Hospital, we pride ourselves on creating a supportive and inclusive work environment.
