About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our team in Loveland, CO. As a SpEd Substitute Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with special needs, while also gaining valuable experience and professional development. Key Responsibilities
Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, adapting to the needs of students with special needs
Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, using a range of teaching strategies to engage students
Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing feedback and support to students and staff
Exercise classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, contributing to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs)
Essential Qualifications
Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired)
Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education (to receive your Substitute Authorization)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with students with special needs, including autism, mild moderate, severe, and multi-intensive
Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and behavior intervention strategies
Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges, with a flexible and positive attitude
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
