About the Role We are seeking an experienced Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our team in Denver, CO. Key Responsibilities Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes Exercise classroom and behavior management skills Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students Essential Qualifications Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s) Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired) Three References with one by a previous direct supervisor Complete a Background Check for Scoot Education (you'll be reimbursed for the cost on your first paycheck!) Complete a Background Check for the Colorado Department of Education (to receive your Substitute Authorization; you will not be reimbursed for the cost) Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong instructional skills and knowledge of special education curriculum Excellent classroom management and behavior management skills Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits We are committed to supporting the growth and development of our team members.
