About the Role: SpEd Substitute Teacher As a Special Ed Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the opportunity to rekindle your passion for teaching while enjoying the support and compensation you deserve. Our platform offers the highest pay rates among special education substitute providers, with the potential to earn up to $273 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term placements. You'll be supported every step of the way by our dedicated team, who will listen to your needs and preferences to ensure you're matched with the right assignments. Key Responsibilities: Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity and quality education for students. Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, adapting to the needs of special education students. Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing valuable feedback to teachers and staff. Exercise effective classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, promoting inclusive practices. Essential Qualifications: Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s). Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if your license is expired). Three professional References, including one from a previous direct supervisor. Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with students with diverse needs, including autism, mild moderate, severe, and multi-intensive requirements. Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies. Previous experience as a Special Education teacher or substitute, with a deep understanding of IEPs and Functional Behavior Assessments. Skills and Competencies: To succeed as a Special Ed Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll need to possess: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and staff. Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing classroom dynamics and student needs. A passion for creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that cater to diverse learning styles.
