Key Responsibilities

Support students with special needs during day-to-day activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Assist the teacher with classroom management and supervision of students, maintaining a focused and productive learning environment.
Aid in the set-up and preparation of classroom equipment, materials, and activities, ensuring that all resources are available and accessible to students.
Supervise students during classroom, schoolyard, hallway, field trips, and other programs, providing guidance and support as needed.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, teachers, and other support staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities, enhancing your skills and knowledge to better support students with special needs.


Essential Qualifications

Minimum of a GED or High School Diploma, demonstrating a foundation in core subjects and a commitment to education.
Proficient in English (speaking, reading, writing), enabling effective communication with students, teachers, and other stakeholders.
Previous experience working with students with special needs, either in a professional or voluntary capacity, is highly desirable.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities with ease.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and other support staff.


Preferred Qualifications

Post-secondary education or training in special education, education assistance, or a related field, demonstrating a deeper understanding of educational principles and practices.
Experience working in an educational setting, either as a teacher aide, instructional assistant, or in a similar role, providing a strong foundation for success in this position.
Familiarity with educational software, technologies, and resources, enabling the effective integration of technology into the learning environment.
First aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain, ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.
