Position Overview

As a Spark Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and analytics capabilities. You will work alongside talented engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to build scalable data solutions that drive business insights and innovation.

What You'll Do


Lead the design and engineering of features and solutions related to data analysis, data transformation, data modeling, and data visualization
Develop well-designed, testable, and efficient solutions using best software development practices
Plan, develop, test, document, deploy, monitor, and support code throughout the application lifecycle
Participate in scrum teams, consistently delivering incremental high-quality code and reports to production
Collaborate with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources
Provide visibility over plans and status to various stakeholders including IT teams and business partners
Work alongside Engineers, Product Managers, and Product Owners to define and support platforms and applications
Support, mentor, and coach junior developers to enhance their technical skills and career growth
Design and implement robust data pipelines using Apache Spark and related big data technologies
Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems and platforms
Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices for data engineering within the organization


Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Minimum of 4 years of experience in writing testable code and generating reports
Strong proficiency with relational SQL databases and NoSQL databases
Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Scala, or R
Knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools and processes
Familiarity with CI/CD tools including GitHub, GoCD, Terraform, or Azure DevOps
Strong understanding of data modeling and architecture principles
Experience developing applications using public cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology and DevOps best practices
Strong proficiency with Git-based version control systems
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
Experience working in a global, distributed team environment
Familiarity with Agile lifecycle management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps


Preferred Qualifications:


Experience with Business Intelligence and Data Visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Microstrategy
Exposure to additional programming languages such as Java, NodeJS, or C#
Experience with big data frameworks and distributed computing
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and architectures
Experience with stream processing technologies
Understanding of data governance and compliance requirements
Professional certifications in cloud platforms or data engineering


Required Skills & Competencies


Technical Expertise: Strong coding skills in Python, Scala, or R with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code
Data Engineering: Proficiency in designing and implementing efficient data pipelines and ETL processes
Cloud Computing: Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, particularly data-related services
Database Management: Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including query optimization
Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Collaboration: Team player who can work effectively in cross-functional teams
Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on data quality and accuracy
Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
