About the Role We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Small Engine Technician to join our team. As a Small Engine Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing small engines used in outdoor power equipment such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, and snow blowers. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine service, and providing top-notch support to customers through both in-person and remote consultations. Key Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical issues in small engine-powered equipment, including lawnmowers, chainsaws, and snow blowers, to identify necessary repairs and maintenance. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, air filter replacements, spark plug inspections, and carburettor cleanings to ensure equipment operates at optimal performance. Repair or replace faulty components, including belts, spark plugs, and fuel systems, to get equipment up and running efficiently. Provide customers with clear explanations of necessary repairs and maintenance recommendations, ensuring they understand the work being performed and the benefits of recommended services. Document service work performed and maintain accurate records for each job, supporting both in-shop and virtual service interactions. Ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and operates at optimal performance, adhering to industry standards and best practices. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and company standards to ensure a safe and healthy workspace. Essential Qualifications and Experience To succeed in this role, you'll need: A high school diploma or GED, demonstrating a foundational level of education. Basic knowledge of small engine mechanics, gained through formal training or hands-on experience. 1+ year of experience working with small engines, applying your skills in a real-world setting. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot engine issues effectively, using diagnostic tools and techniques. Preferred Qualifications and Experience While not required, the following qualifications and experience will give you a competitive edge: Certification in small engine repair, demonstrating specialized knowledge and skills. 3+ years of experience in small engine maintenance and repair, showcasing your expertise and ability to handle complex tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills, allowing you to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. Previous customer service experience, highlighting your ability to communicate effectively with clients and provide top-notch support.
