About the Job We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Video Calculations to help us address these challenges, as well as drive key research in the field. As a Senior Software Engineer in Video Calculations at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing and prototyping encoding algorithms and software workflows that can improve the quality or reduce the bandwidth requirements of our video streams. Key Responsibilities: Design and prototype encoding algorithms and software workflows that can improve the quality or reduce the bandwidth requirements of our video streams. Analyze current workflow and codec implementations and identify areas for improvement in quality and speed. Collaborate with other software engineers and researchers in the team to take your advancements from paper to product. Lead research on cutting-edge image and video coding, collaborate with academic research groups, and participate in research conferences. Have exceptional software development skills and a successful track record in Video Calculations and Coding research or neighboring fields (Computer Architecture, Video Processing, Computer Vision, Video Quality) with publications, tech-blogs, or contributions to products. Be able to identify areas for improvements in existing systems and be capable of envisioning and implementing solutions for such improvements. Be eager to apply your expertise to a product that touches millions of lives. Essential Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in multimedia software development, with excellent debugging and problem-solving skills. BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent. MS or PhD is a plus. Demonstrated proficiency in Python and/or Java and object-oriented programming. Strong understanding of video compression and processing, including codec principles like H.264/AVC, HEVC, and AV1. Solid foundation in image and signal processing, both algorithm design and implementation (for example: image scaling, deinterlacing, frame rate conversion, artifact detection, etc.). Preferred Qualifications: Experience with large-scale distributed systems and cloud computing. Experience with software performance optimization. Contribution to open-source multimedia projects, (e.g., ffmpeg, x264, avisynth, webm). Experience with image and video quality assessment.
