We are proud to be a part of the Florida Health Sciences Center and a leader in the Tampa Bay region. **Job Summary** As an Experienced Senior HIM Technician - Nights (Remote), you will play a critical role in maintaining and using electronic and paper patient health records. You will work under the general supervision of a Director/Manager/Supervisor and will be responsible for performing health information activities necessary to organize, maintain, and use electronic and paper patient health records. Depending on the area assigned, you may specialize in one or more technical functions, including: * Maintenance of records in a centralized location * Indexing, scanning, and validating * Electronic and physical chart retrieval * Reconciling medical record activity * Accessing and updating electronic tracking systems * Answering telephones and assisting with continuity of care requests for medical records, and the patient portal **Key Responsibilities** * Perform health information activities necessary to organize, maintain, and use electronic and paper patient health records * Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in a centralized location * Index, scan, and validate medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness * Retrieve electronic and physical charts as needed * Reconcile medical record activity to ensure accuracy and completeness * Access and update electronic tracking systems to ensure accurate and timely information * Answer telephones and assist with continuity of care requests for medical records, and the patient portal * Understand chart organization and content, TGH and external requirements related to chart documentation and privacy * Perform job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital **Essential Qualifications** * High School Diploma or G.E.D. * One (1) year of customer service experience * Knowledge and competencies in Health Information Practices and Technologies, including medical terminology * Applied analytical skills * Advanced problem-solving skills * Wide-range attention to detail * Strong professional customer service and communication skills * Proficiency with basic computer programs and intermediate keyboarding skills * Detailed knowledge of medical record content and regulatory standards for documentation and privacy **Preferred Qualifications** * Some college, preferably Health Information Management or Health Information Technology, Informatics or Management degree * Experience in Medical Records or Health Information-related department, preferably hospital * Knowledge of hospital computer systems and electronic medical records, preferably Epic and/or OnBase **Skills and Competencies** * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Excellent communication and customer service skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Proficiency with basic computer programs and intermediate keyboarding skills * Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records * Ability to understand chart organization and content, TGH and external requirements related to chart documentation and privacy **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As an Experienced Senior HIM Technician - Nights (Remote) at Tampa General Hospital, you will have the opportunity to: * Develop your skills and knowledge in health information management * Work with a dynamic and innovative team * Contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care * Participate in ongoing education and training programs * Pursue career advancement opportunities within the hospital **Work Environment and Company Culture** Tampa General Hospital is a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus.
