Experienced Senior Game Tools & Pipeline Engineer – Building Development Infrastructure for Next-Gen Gaming

Remote Full-time
At arenaflex, we're not just creating games—we're crafting immersive worlds that captivate millions of players globally. We're on the hunt for a passionate and driven Senior Game Tools Engineer who thrives on empowering creative teams and streamlining development workflows. If you're excited about building the infrastructure that makes extraordinary games possible, we want to hear from you.

This is a unique opportunity to join a world-class game development studio where your technical expertise will directly impact the quality of our games and the efficiency of our talented multidisciplinary teams. You'll be working at the intersection of software engineering and game development, creating tools and pipelines that empower artists, designers, and engineers to do their best work.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with our Art, Design, and Engineering departments to identify workflow bottlenecks, propose elegant solutions, and implement tools that transform how our teams create content. You'll be responsible for maintaining, extending, and enhancing our existing suite of engine-specific and custom tools that we use daily across all our projects. Your contributions will help us deliver the high-quality gaming experiences our players have come to expect.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Game Tools Engineer at arenaflex, you'll serve as a bridge between technical implementation and creative workflow optimization. Your days will be filled with meaningful challenges that directly impact our development velocity and product quality.

Core Responsibilities

Proactively identify inefficiencies and elaboration areas in our development process across all disciplines, from initial concept to final polish
Design, build, and maintain custom development tools that solve complex workflow challenges and enhance team productivity
Develop and extend asset pipelines that streamline content creation, ensure consistency, and enable our artists to work more efficiently
Create proprietary libraries, tools, and technologies that span multiple game engines and internal systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Art, Design, and Engineering to understand pain points and develop targeted solutions
Evaluate potential tools and solutions, weighing trade-offs given project context and development timelines
Implement selected solutions with careful attention to usability, performance, and maintainability
Drive adoption of new tools by providing training, documentation, and ongoing support to team members
Maintain and support existing engine-specific tools that are critical to our daily development operations
Contribute to technical architecture decisions that shape the future of our development infrastructure

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a candidate who combines deep technical expertise with a genuine passion for empowering others. The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative environments and understands that the best tools are those that disappear into the workflow, enabling creators to focus on their craft.

Essential Qualifications

A strong passion for empowering others to do their best work—this isn't just a job requirement, it's the core philosophy that should guide your approach to tools development

Proficiency in developing custom standalone tools that solve specific production challenges
Experience building tools used by multiple game development disciplines, demonstrating understanding of diverse workflows and user needs
Strong programming skills in C#, C++, and Python
Ability to work effectively in a self-directed environment, taking ownership of projects from conception to completion
Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical team members
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or equivalent practical experience

Highly Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with custom game engines, demonstrating adaptability to proprietary technology stacks
Deep familiarity with Unreal Engine or Unity, including editor scripting, plugin development, and customization
JavaScript and .NET technology experience for web-based tools and pipeline integration
Experience in the gaming industry, with understanding of game development pipelines and production workflows
