We're currently seeking a talented and passionate Senior Game Engine Tools Engineer to join our infrastructure team and help us build the foundation for our next generation of amazing games.

The Role

In this critical role, you'll be working closely with our Art, Design, and Engineering teams to identify workflow inefficiencies, pain points, and bottlenecks in our development process. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate candidate solutions, carefully weigh trade-offs given project context and development timelines, implement selected solutions, and ensure successful adoption by the team.

You'll also be responsible for assisting, developing, and maintaining arenaflex's existing set of engine-specific and custom tools that we use every day to bring our game visions to life. Key Responsibilities


Proactively identify inefficiencies and elaborate areas in our development technique across all disciplines, including art, design, engineering, and QA processes
Maintain, extend, and support existing development tools and pipelines to ensure smooth daily operations
Build and guide custom asset pipelines that streamline content creation and integration workflows
Grow arenaflex's proprietary libraries, tools, and technologies across multiple game engines and frameworks
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Art, Design, and Engineering to understand workflow challenges and develop effective solutions
Evaluate and implement tools that address identified pain points while considering project timelines and resource constraints
Drive adoption of new tools and processes by providing training, documentation, and ongoing support to team members
Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high standards of code quality and documentation
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in game development tools and pipelines
Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement


Essential Qualifications


A strong passion for empowering others to do their best work and a genuine desire to help colleagues succeed
Experience with the complete software lifecycle: identifying issues, analyzing potential solutions, implementing tools, and evaluating their effectiveness in production environments
Experience working with custom standalone tools used in professional development environments
Experience developing tools that are utilized by multiple game development disciplines (art, design, engineering, QA)

Strong proficiency in C#, C++, and Python – must be comfortable working with multiple programming languages
Capable of working effectively in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively about complex technical challenges
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)


Preferred Qualifications


Experience with custom game engines and deep understanding of game engine architecture
Professional experience with Unreal Engine or Unity – familiarity with both is a plus
JavaScript and .NET technology experience
Experience with asset management systems and version control workflows
Knowledge of game development pipelines and workflows across multiple disciplines
Experience with build systems and continuous integration in game development contexts
Understanding of 3D graphics concepts and real-time rendering technologies
Familiarity with agile development methodologies
