Job Overview and Responsibilities As a Senior Engineer on our Cyber Fraud and Abuse Prevention team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and maintenance of applications and APIs used to prevent and detect fraudulent activities on Target.com. You will collaborate with a team of skilled engineers and analysts to design, develop, and implement robust and scalable systems that drive business value and protect our guests and assets. Your key responsibilities will include: Designing and developing back-end systems and data architectures that support the prevention and detection of fraudulent activities Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate data from multiple sources and explore emerging tools and technologies in the security and fraud prevention space Participating in agile development methodologies, including pair programming, code reviews, and continuous learning opportunities Implementing thoughtful design principles to optimize our mobile, highly scalable systems Mentoring and guiding junior engineers and contributing to the development of best practices and standards Writing well-structured, well-tested code that ensures accuracy and effectiveness Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in software engineering, design, and development, as well as experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. You should also have a solid understanding of REST-based API development, CI/CD toolchains, and DevOps practices. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate: A strong desire to learn and grow your technical skills, including areas such as security, fraud prevention, and data engineering Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience At least 2 years of software development or data engineering experience, with a focus on back-end systems and data architectures Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following skills and qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with HBase, Postgres, Teradata, Cassandra, SQL Server, and Oracle Familiarity with Hadoop ecosystem tools such as Hive, Pig, Spark, and others Knowledge of front-end UI development and GraphQL Experience with data integration using APIs, streaming technologies (Kafka), ETL, and other data integration patterns Test-driven development experience and a strong understanding of testing principles Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Target, we're committed to helping our team members grow and develop their careers.
