What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our retail operations through advanced analytics and machine learning. Your work will directly influence how we forecast demand, optimize inventory, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Here's what you can expect:

Lead Algorithm Development


Design and implement long-term forecasting algorithms using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to solve complex retail business problems
Develop decision science methodologies that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization
Create robust models that can handle massive volumes of time-series data with high accuracy
Build and deploy machine learning solutions that automate processes currently requiring manual intervention


Data Analysis & Insights


Collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and summarize vast amounts of time-series retail data
Generate key insights that lead to innovative applications and business solutions
Analyze complex and rich datasets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities
Perform comprehensive data exploration tasks and create compelling storyboards from your analysis
Present clear and accurate root-cause analysis to data scientists and executive leadership


Machine Learning Implementation


Build training workflows for machine learning algorithms operating on tens of millions of data points
Develop end-to-end data science solutions including data understanding, feature engineering, model development, validation, and deployment
Lead large-scale implementations of machine learning models using our rich retail data sources
Review model performance continuously and identify improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency


Collaboration & Innovation


Work closely with our global AI team, scientists, engineers, and business partners to identify and lead new opportunities
Collaborate with engineering teams to address production pipeline issues
Participate in cross-functional initiatives to bring business value to the organization
Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels


What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong academic background combined with substantial practical experience in data science and machine learning:


Education: At minimum, a Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field
Experience: At least seven (7) years of experience as a data or machine learning scientist, including:

Conducting advanced machine learning activities (regression, clustering, and forecasting)
Driving the development and implementation of analytical and data science modeling solutions
Applying mathematical concepts, algorithms, and computational complexity
Working with Python, SQL, R, SAS, risk assessment, and data manipulation


Technical Expertise: At least two (2) years of experience:

Handling massive volumes of data and solving complex business problems
Delivering end-to-end data science solutions from problem statement through production deployment
Working with engineering teams on production pipeline issues
Productionizing, auditing, and monitoring data science models in production environments
Utilizing Hive or Hadoop, machine learning, text mining, and Spark




Alternative Qualification Path

We also welcome candidates with a Doctorate (PhD) in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field, with at least four (4) years of experience in the areas described above.

You must demonstrate proficiency in:


Machine learning methodologies and frameworks
Probability theory and statistics
Optimization theory
Deep learning architectures
Data pipeline engineering and distributed systems
Database architecture and design
Linear programming
Data mining techniques


Programming Languages: Python, SQL, R, SAS, Spark, C, JavaScript, Scala, Hadoop, Hive, HTML, MATLAB, Java, and Command Shell
