Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level data services and analytics solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for building fault-tolerant data pipelines, developing real-time data products, and enabling seamless data processing for exploration, preparation, and business analytics. This is a remote position based in the United States, offering competitive compensation and the flexibility to work from home.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical and collaborative tasks designed to advance arenaflex's data capabilities. Here's what you can expect:


Data Architecture & Design: Demonstrate deep expertise in data engineering, including batch processing, distributed computing, and real-time data pipelines. Design and implement scalable data architectures that support high availability and performance.
Data Product Development: Develop a comprehensive understanding of data as a concept and create domain-driven data products that meet business requirements. Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that enable advanced analytics and machine learning.
Pipeline Optimization: Optimize data products to support client personas, data science initiatives, AI/ML workflows, and data visualization requirements. Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across all platforms.
Advanced Data Processing: Build fault-tolerant, self-healing, adaptive, and highly accurate data computational pipelines that can handle massive volumes of data efficiently.
Technical Leadership: Provide consultation and lead the implementation of complex programs. Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices in data engineering.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all assigned systems and projects. Create technical guides and reference materials for the team.
Problem Resolution: Perform root cause analysis to identify permanent resolutions to software or business process issues. Implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
Collaboration & Communication: Work effectively with remote teams, demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to contribute meaningfully to group projects despite virtual collaboration.


Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:


Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
Technical Expertise (Required):

Strong professional experience with Spark (PySpark) using Jupyter Notebooks, Colab, or DataBricks
Hands-on experience with data pipeline development and ingest patterns in Azure
Proficiency with orchestration tools such as ADF (Azure Data Factory) or Airflow
Advanced SQL skills for complex data manipulation and querying
Experience with denormalized data modeling for large-scale data structures


Professional Experience:

7-10 years of experience in architecting and designing large-scale, high-performance distributed systems
7-10 years of experience with SQL platforms
3+ years of experience with No-SQL platforms
3+ years of experience with Spark
3+ years of experience in data platform implementation on Azure or AWS
2+ years of experience with CI/CD practices


Architectural Knowledge: Exposure to Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and understanding of modern data architecture patterns.


Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would be advantageous:

Experience with cloud-native data services and serverless architectures
Knowledge of streaming data technologies such as Apache Kafka or Apache Flink
Understanding of data governance and security best practices
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
Certifications in relevant cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $55 to $80 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
