Job Overview The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, engineering, proselytizing, and implementing advanced solutions that provide an exceptional customer experience. You will work closely with business stakeholders, software development engineers, and data scientist partners to optimize groups, processes, and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, and a passion for building and shaping data products with a focus on design, quality, performance, security, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Design, engineer, and implement data warehouse, data lake, and data security services Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs Collaborate with software development engineers and data scientist partners to optimize groups, processes, and performance Utilize the right architecture to manage data and support various analytics use cases, including business reporting, production data pipeline, machine learning, optimization models, statistical models, and simulations Coach colleagues on best practices and provide technical guidance and support Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 5+ years of data engineering experience Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines Experience with SQL and at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS Experience coaching colleagues on best practices A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with big data technologies, such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR Experience working with large data warehouses Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) Experience with data security and compliance Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects Strong technical skills, including proficiency in programming languages, data modeling, and data warehousing Ability to coach and mentor colleagues Strong business acumen and understanding of business requirements Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Amazon, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for career growth and development.
