About the Role As a Senior AI/ML Engineer at American Express, you'll be part of our Global Business Services AI/ML Center of Excellence, where you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that are transforming the way we do business. You'll be responsible for leading the development of machine learning solutions, designing and implementing AI/ML applications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of AI/ML applications and solutions, including designing and implementing machine learning models, data pipelines, and reusable AI/ML components. Collaborate with product managers to build and transform prioritized business capabilities, providing thought leadership on emerging technologies. Develop and maintain the technical architecture of GCS ML products and platforms, working closely with technical architects and architecture governance teams. Drive technical development within GCS AI CoE use cases, including architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment of AI/ML artifacts. Implement software development practices such as CI/CD pipelines, ML model deployments, and version control. Spend 50-70% of your time on coding and hands-on technical implementation of ML solutions. Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software applications across test, integration, and production environments. Integrate data science and engineering capabilities to solve complex problems that impact millions of businesses worldwide. Help shape the direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence at American Express. Drive cross-functional collaboration with peer technology and product teams across the organization to deliver high-impact products. Promote the use of new technologies and products to solve business needs and improve productivity. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you'll need to have: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Data Science. At least 4+ years of experience in related disciplines, with a proven track record of designing and developing AI/ML applications. Hands-on coding experience in Python or equivalent language, with knowledge of big data technologies such as Hive, Spark. Experience with Agile software development methodologies and practices, including Scrum/Kanban, iterations, user stories. Strong understanding of software engineering and software development methodologies. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical partners. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge: Experience working with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, MAPR, NoSQL. Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and experience with designing and developing end-to-end ML products. Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, software design, software development, and testing. Understanding of change management, problem management, and incident management practices.
