Job Overview As a Social Worker - Leave of Absence, you will play a vital role in supporting the social/emotional needs of students, collaborating with teachers and staff, and providing direct services to students and families. This position is available for immediate commencement and will cover the duration of the leave, working five days a week. Key Responsibilities Participate in IEP conferences, including the preparation of IEP goals and objectives, to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed. Collaborate with teachers and staff in Teacher Collaboration Team meetings to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students' social/emotional needs. Provide consultation and inservice to staff regarding social/emotional needs of students, sharing your expertise and best practices to enhance their skills and knowledge. Participate in the identification of students who require intervention, working closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure that students receive timely and effective support. Provide direct services to students and families, including counseling, support, and guidance, to help them navigate challenges and achieve their goals. Serve as a liaison between homes, schools, hospitals, social welfare agencies, therapists, alternative schools, preschools, parochial schools, public schools, and others as needed, fostering strong relationships and partnerships to support students' well-being. Prepare and submit reports regarding the social work program when appropriate, ensuring that stakeholders are informed and up-to-date on progress and outcomes. Expand your knowledge and skills in areas related to the job role as Social Worker, including technology applications, by reading current literature, attending professional conferences and workshops, and collaborating with other professionals. Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills: Certification and qualifications as set by the State Board of Education and the School Code, including a School Social Worker (SSW) endorsement. A strong understanding of social/emotional needs of students and the ability to develop and implement effective strategies to support them. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, teachers, and other professionals. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the changing needs of students and the school community.
