Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Management Director to join our team. As a Risk Management Director, you will play a critical role in driving business process improvement and risk management solutions, utilizing business or customer department data. You will investigate structured and unstructured data, interpret information using statistical, financial, AI, or business intelligence methods, and collaborate with technology and other groups on the integration and implementation of risk management approaches and business procedures. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement risk management strategies and solutions to drive business growth and profitability Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technology, operations, and customer departments, to integrate risk management approaches and business procedures Identify and assess new data sources (controlled and uncontrolled) that could add significant value to American Express' products and services Utilize industry and internal best practices, incorporating regulatory feedback on a case-by-case basis, to drive continuous improvement in risk management techniques and systems Present complex analysis and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership and external stakeholders Essential Qualifications Graduate degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field At least 1 year of experience in risk management, data analysis, and business process improvement Proven track record of driving business growth and profitability through data-driven insights and risk management solutions Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to technical and non-technical audiences Experience working with technical, scientific, business, and non-technical teams, with a strong ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders Proficiency in MS Excel for financial and data reporting and modeling, as well as experience with Data Bricks, Python, R, SAS, SQL, Tableau, Teradata, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Unix Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in a related field, such as a Master's or Ph.D. Professional certifications, such as FRM, CFA, or CFP Experience working in the financial services industry, with a strong understanding of risk management principles and practices Knowledge of machine learning and AI techniques, with experience applying these methods to drive business outcomes Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure, and experience with agile development methodologies Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a unique combination of technical, business, and interpersonal skills.
