Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Retail Pharmacist to join our Houston-based pharmacy team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to our patients, including medication counseling, clinical services, and ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of prescriptions. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $26 per hour with full-time employment benefits. Key Responsibilities

Patient Experience & Engagement

Greet patients warmly and offer assistance with products and services to create a welcoming pharmacy environment
Resolve patient concerns and questions promptly to ensure a positive patient experience
Demonstrate exceptional customer service best practices, including friendly demeanor, eye contact, courteous communication, and genuine care for each patient's needs
Proactively anticipate patient needs and offer relevant services, including medication management, therapy reviews, and health consultations
Support initiatives to enhance patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through arenaflex, including patient consultations, prescription management, and medication therapy reviews
Participate in community events and outreach programs that reflect the unique communities we serve, as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or Healthcare Lead


Pharmaceutical Care & Clinical Services

Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, contraindications, and patient information privacy
Recommend generic alternatives and cost-effective medication options when appropriate
Refer patients to medical providers when necessary to ensure medications are taken correctly and health needs are addressed
Perform pharmacist duties including medication compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and comprehensive medication management
Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications according to state regulations and company policies
Administer vaccinations, perform diagnostic testing, and provide other clinical health services as needed
Conduct disease state management consultations and chronic disease monitoring
Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy and healthcare information technology systems, including workflow management, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, and inventory management


Pharmacy Operations & Compliance

Ensure the pharmacy operates in full compliance with federal and state regulations, company policies, and established quality standards
Assist the Pharmacy Manager in establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow, including role assignment, scheduling, and process improvement
Manage pharmacy opening and closing procedures and coordinate shift change activities
Ensure proper adherence to controlled substance regulations and documentation requirements per state and federal law
Maintain accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections
Follow up with insurance companies and clinical providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, refills, and address any discrepancies
Participate in third-party audits and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements


Team Leadership & Development

Support the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring, onboarding, and training processes
Contribute to the development of pharmacy team members through mentoring, coaching, and providing constructive feedback
Promote teamwork and inspire colleagues by establishing clear expectations, monitoring performance, and recognizing achievements
Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages shared goals and mutual support
Communicate corporate health and wellness initiatives, policies, and procedures to pharmacy staff


Community & Professional Engagement

Develop and maintain strong relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
Participate in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business and enhance learning opportunities
Contribute to improving community health outcomes through education and accessible healthcare services
Collaborate with support teams for patient enrollment, exception resolution, and issue escalations


Essential Qualifications


Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree from an accredited educational institution
Licensure: Current, active pharmacist licensure in the state of Texas (or ability to obtain licensure)
Regulatory Knowledge: Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with strong knowledge of relevant state and federal controlled substance regulations
Certification: Certified Immunizer or willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire
Technical Skills: Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, prescription processing software, and insurance billing procedures
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and team members
Attention to Detail: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to accuracy in prescription dispensing


Preferred Qualifications


Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting
Clinical Background: Experience with prescription filling and verification, records management, legal compliance, and pharmacy operations
Technical Expertise: Familiarity with pharmacy software and technology systems, including inventory management and point-of-sale operations
Insurance Knowledge: Strong understanding of insurance claim processing and third-party billing
Specializations: Additional certifications in areas such as diabetes management, immunization delivery, or medication therapy management
