Job Overview We're seeking an exceptional Remote Apple Advisor and Data Engineer to join our team of innovators. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the large-scale data platforms and services that power Apple Music's features. Your expertise in handling massive datasets, building scalable data pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams will be essential in driving the success of our music streaming service. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain large-scale data structures and systems in Scala, ensuring high flexibility and scalability Develop and run massive data pipelines, including distributed processing, data ingest, and real-time/streaming data processing using technologies like Kafka Collaborate with Apple's product teams to integrate data-driven insights into Apple Music features, enhancing the user experience Optimize data storage and querying on HDFS, leveraging techniques like data warehousing and data modeling for large-scale data plans Contribute to the development of distributed systems and resources, ensuring high performance and scalability Participate in the design and implementation of low-latency NoSQL data stores and relational databases Essential Qualifications BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop MapReduce, Scala/Spark SQL, YARN/MR2 Expertise in building and supporting highly scalable data structures and systems in Scala Strong understanding of data modeling and data warehousing for large-scale data plans Experience with distributed systems, including host, rack, and data center-level resource management Preferred Qualifications Experience with low-latency NoSQL data stores and relational databases Knowledge of data ingestion, processing, and storage technologies like Kafka, HDFS, and Spark Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and services Strong programming skills in languages like Java, Python, or Scala Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess a unique blend of technical, business, and interpersonal skills.
