As a Product Security Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Apple Item Security Group, working on the front lines of Apple's security efforts. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for: Investigating security issues across Apple products, including iOS, tvOS, watchOS, and macOS, to identify vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for remediation Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and product management, to ensure that security is integrated into every aspect of the product development process Developing and maintaining tools and automation to help identify and mitigate security threats Providing mentorship to engineering teams on the mitigation of emerging threats and secure coding best practices Staying up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies, and applying that knowledge to improve Apple's security posture Participating in incident response efforts, including analyzing and responding to security incidents, and providing technical expertise to help resolve issues Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A proven track record of finding security vulnerabilities in shipping products Programming experience in C, C++, or Objective-C Knowledge of modern processor architecture Familiarity with secure coding best practices and code reviews Understanding of past, current, and emerging security exploit types Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python Experience with macOS or other types of UNIX Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities and prioritize tasks effectively Strong technical skills, with a passion for getting systems by demonstrating how they can be broken Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with security testing and vulnerability assessment tools Knowledge of cloud security and cloud-based technologies Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git Experience with automation and scripting, including tools like Ansible or SaltStack Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, and SSL/TLS Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Technical expertise : A deep understanding of security principles, technologies, and trends, as well as programming languages and software development methodologies Problem-solving skills : The ability to analyze complex security issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions Communication skills : The ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences Collaboration skills : The ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and product management Adaptability : The ability to adapt to changing priorities, technologies, and threats, and to pivot when necessary Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Apple, we are committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
