Job Overview As a Physical Security Engineer at Amazon, you will be responsible for designing secure, flexible, and efficient data center workplaces. You will lead security plans for data centers in the Americas region and influence Amazon's overall data center security policies. You will work closely with other AWS security teams, AWS management, and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of physical security measures across AWS. Your expertise will be crucial in providing technical guidance, directly impacting the design of data center facilities, solving complex security implementation issues, and developing and communicating security design requirements to internal and external project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead design plans (development drawings and specifications) for physical security components (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, walls, doors, etc.) for data center projects Collaborate with other security teams within AWS to develop design standards, review cost, feasibility, and benefits of designs, and participate in design discussions Implement applied designs to internal partners and external consultants Participate in maintenance Reason of Design, model development, and design decisions for physical security components Create security design scope of work for design RFPs Study and direct the work of physical security design plan specialists Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously Travel for site inspections, design meetings, construction review, and consulting with design specialists (up to 25%) Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, architecture) or equivalent additional experience 2+ years of physical security design experience 2+ years of physical security design experience in data centers or similar critical infrastructure Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Professional engineering license Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and standards, including IBC, IFC Contractor and consultant management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to travel internationally Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess: Strong technical skills in physical security design and implementation Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Amazon, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
