As a Physical Security Engineer at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in leading security plans for Amazon Server farms (DC) across the Americas Region. Job Overview In this role, you will work closely with other AWS Security Teams, AWS Management, and partners to collaborate on the practical application of Physical Security throughout AWS. You will assess and stay up-to-date on new and cutting-edge technologies and security measures for possible application to the current setup of security cycles and measures to enhance the security posture across AWS. Your expertise in physical security principles and their practical application will be essential in driving the design of DC facilities and tackling large-scale implementation issues. Key Responsibilities Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security components (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, walls, doors, etc.) for DC projects. Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, assess cost, risk, and benefits of designs, and participate in design discussions. Communicate conceptual designs to internal stakeholders and external specialists. Participate in support Basis of Design, model design, and layout specifications for physical security components. Create security design scope of work for design RFPs. Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design professionals. Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously. Travel for site evaluations, internal design meetings, construction review, and interacting with design professionals (expected travel not to exceed 25%). Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent additional experience. 2+ years of physical security design experience. 2+ years of physical security design experience in data centers or similar critical facilities. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Professional engineering license. Physical Security Professional Certification (PSP) certification. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification. Strong working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite. Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards, including IBC, IFC. Vendor and consultant management skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
