About the arenaflex Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program

arenaflex is proud to invest in and champion an "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician training program that has been recognized by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the U.S. Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program provides you with an entry point into the dynamic healthcare industry by guiding you through the steps toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified Pharmacy Technician.

What You'll Do

As a Pharmacy Technician at arenaflex, you'll play a vital role in our pharmacy operations while providing exceptional customer service. Here's what you can expect:

Patient Care & Customer Service

Engage customers and patients by greeting them warmly and providing assistance with our products and services
Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries to ensure a positive customer experience
Model and share customer service best practices with all team members
Develop strong relationships with our most valuable customers
Provide interpersonal habits including proper greeting, eye contact, and courtesy
Exhibit arenaflex service characteristics by providing help proactively, identifying needs, and servicing customers until they are satisfied


Pharmacy Operations

Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and arenaflex policy
Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately
Review and comply with the arenaflex Pharmacy Code of Conduct
Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Supervisor
Enter patient and drug records accurately into pharmacy systems
Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets
Verify medication accuracy and check for possible drug interactions
Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow
Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately
Adhere to arenaflex rules and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs
Strictly adhere to the arenaflex Policy regarding good faith dispensing across all applicable prescription dispensing activities


Financial Responsibilities

Register all related income on assigned cash register
Collect and handle cash as required
Take customers to OTC aisles when possible to assist in finding products
Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner


Communication & Administrative Tasks

Handle telephone calls that don't require personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians
Perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager
Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community
Participate in medical provider detailing and outreach to health agencies, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities


Inventory Management

Assist and support Pharmacy department on stock management activities
Order, unpack, check, and store shipment of prescription drugs
Maintain knowledge of arenaflex asset protection techniques
Document claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods related to Rx capsules


Clinical Support

May assist pharmacist in administering medical services
Collect and properly label blood/urine samples from patients
Provide other medical services as required
Assist pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services
Support arenaflex healthcare clinics and external vendors


Facility Maintenance & Compliance

Assist with outside and inside maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with adequate supplies
Keep the pharmacy clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance
Comply with all arenaflex policies and procedures
Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers
Complete special assignments and other responsibilities as assigned


What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

Language Skills: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Legal Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the United States
Certification Commitment: Willingness to earn PTCB certification through the arenaflex training program and/or state required certification/registration


Preferred Qualifications

Six months of experience in a retail environment
Previous work experience with arenaflex or similar pharmacy settings
Strong math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medicines
Proficient computer skills
Knowledge of store inventory control
PTCB certification (or willingness to obtain)
