What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Technician at arenaflex, you'll play a vital role in our pharmacy operations, working closely with our pharmacists to ensure the highest quality of patient care. Your responsibilities will include:


Patient Interaction: Serve as the front and center of our pharmacy operations, interacting with customers and developing strong patient relationships that foster trust and loyalty.
Prescription Processing: Utilize our advanced pharmacy systems to accurately obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly and efficiently.
Medication Preparation: Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets while verifying medication accuracy and checking for possible drug interactions.
Quality Assurance: Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to all company rules and procedures related to pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs.
Customer Service Excellence: Engage customers and patients by greeting them warmly and providing assistance with services and products. Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries to ensure a positive customer experience.
Cash Register Operations: Register all related income on assigned cash registers, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers in locating over-the-counter products.
Third-Party Claims Processing: Correctly and resubmit manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
Inventory Management: Assist and support pharmacy department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs.
Clinical Support: Under appropriate supervision, assist pharmacists in administering medical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required.
Community Relationships: Assist Pharmacy Managers and Staff Pharmacists in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
Compliance: Comply with all company policies and procedures, maintain respectful relationships with coworkers, and complete special assignments as directed.


Qualifications We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications


Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
Must be at least 18 years of age
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
High school diploma or equivalent preferred


Preferred Qualifications


Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
Strong math skills to accurately fill prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medicines
Proficient computer skills for pharmacy system operation
Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
PTCB Certification (or willingness to obtain through our apprenticeship program)
Previous customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with medical terminology and pharmacy calculations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays


Training & Development Opportunities

At arenaflex, we believe in investing in our people from day one. Whether you're new to working in pharmacies or are an experienced Pharmacy Technician, we will train you to apply your skills and abilities to serve and care for our patients and customers. The courses, learning activities, and resources provided to you in our pharmacy technician training program are designed to offer both foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences needed to prepare you to become a licensed pharmacy technician.

Through completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, you'll qualify for 8 university credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This coursework is recommended for 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and 5 semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category, providing you with a pathway to further education if desired.

As part of your ongoing professional development, you'll be expected to attend training sessions, complete required PPLs (Performance Proficiency Learning) as requested by your manager, and maintain continuing education credits. You'll also stay current on healthcare and pharmacy knowledge, including the latest information and developments in the field.
