Key Responsibilities Clinical: Complete obligatory long-term rotations in community, ambulatory care, blithequark management, and education to achieve objectives set out by accreditation guidelines Education: Participate in teaching activities, including small group and large lecture discussions, act as an assistant preceptor for the community pharmacy practice laboratory, and precept PharmD clerkship students at all sites Functional/Regulatory: Develop administrative skills as a pharmacist, including time with the pharmacy manager at both sites and the Area Healthcare Manager at blithequark to understand pharmacy operations Management/Administration: Engage in state and national pharmacy associations, attend Massachusetts Pharmacy Association meetings, and participate in regulatory projects to advance pharmacy practice Objectives The primary objectives of the community pharmacy residency program at blithequark are to: Engage the resident in clinical, educational, functional, and administrative aspects of community pharmacy practice Prepare the resident to assume clinical, educational, functional, and administrative responsibilities within the community practice setting Provide a mechanism for the resident to contribute to the development of pharmacy services within the community setting Develop the resident's precepting and teaching skills Contribute to quality improvement programs as appropriate Successfully design and implement a longitudinal residency project and present an original manuscript for publication in a reputable pharmacy journal Essential Qualifications To be eligible for the community pharmacy residency program at blithequark, candidates must: Hold a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a school or college of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education Be able to obtain a pharmacist license within the state of residency within 90 days of the start of the residency program Submit residency application materials to Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) Participate in and comply with the rules of the ASHP Resident Matching System Be a certified immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our residents.
