Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience Excellence

Greet and engage customers warmly, creating a positive first impression that sets the tone for their entire shopping experience
Listen attentively to customer inquiries and concerns, providing thoughtful solutions that address their needs
Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty
Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, including friendly eye contact, genuine warmth, and courteous communication
Offer proactive assistance by anticipating customer needs and suggesting helpful products and services
Recommend items that complement customer purchases and suggest appropriate alternatives when needed


Pharmacy Operations Support

Operate the assigned sales register with accuracy, processing transactions efficiently and handling cash with integrity
Collect proper payment and provide correct change for all customer purchases
Process voids, returns, delays, refunds, and exchanges in accordance with company policies
Assist customers in locating products, particularly in the over-the-counter aisle, and provide guidance on appropriate selections
Under direct supervision of the pharmacist, support prescription processing activities
Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and medication information accurately
Retrieve, count, and pour prescription medications, verifying accuracy before dispensing
Check medications for correctness and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications
Report any prescription errors immediately to the supervising pharmacist and follow quality improvement protocols
Handle customer calls that do not require direct pharmacist attention, including physician inquiries
Process and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription programs efficiently


Inventory and Merchandising

Maintain clean, well-organized counters and displays that enhance the shopping environment
Perform regular inventory checks as directed by management
Price and tag stock accurately according to established guidelines
Support pharmacy division inventory management activities, including ordering, unloading, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments
Maintain awareness of company asset security procedures and report any discrepancies
Document claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods including prescription medications
Ensure compliance with state and local regulations regarding controlled substances, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco products
Build and maintain attractive product displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale items
Complete resets and corrections as directed by management
Assist with proper food item division and product positioning according to company procedures
Support inventory rotation using first-in, first-out methodology


Additional Store Operations

Demonstrate working knowledge of store systems and equipment
Provide excellent customer service in the photo area, including digital photo printing, banner printing, and creative machine operations
Process web order fulfillment, including monitoring orders in the system, picking items, and delivering orders to customers upon their arrival
Support internal and external maintenance efforts to ensure a clean, tidy, and welcoming store environment
Complete special projects and other assigned tasks as needed


Training and Professional Development

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred; however, we value diverse backgrounds and experiences
Language Skills: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (with the exception of Puerto Rico locations)
Availability: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours
Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with customers and team members
Accuracy: Strong attention to detail and ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately


Preferred Qualifications

Six months or more of experience in a retail customer service environment
Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare-related setting
Strong mathematical skills for accurately counting, measuring, and weighing medications
Proficiency in computer operations and point-of-sale systems
Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
PTCB certification or willingness to pursue certification
Familiarity with pharmacy terminology and common prescription medications
