About the Role As a Pharmacist at Walgreens, you'll play a critical role in our healthcare system by providing a wide range of pharmacy and healthcare services to our patients. You'll be responsible for ensuring the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications, as well as offering preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services. Key Responsibilities Patient Experience Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues in a timely manner, and answering questions to ensure a positive experience. Model and share customer service best practices with team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful experience. Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, promoting the shift of the Walgreens pharmacy role from transactional to interpersonal. Participate in events that reflect the unique communities we serve, as requested by Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor, District Manager, or Pharmacy Manager. Operations Counsel patients and answer questions regarding medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, and over-the-counter products. Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications, ensuring compliance with regulations, company policies, and standards. Assist the Pharmacy Manager with establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow, assign roles, coordinate activities, and solicit team member suggestions. Maintain current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, and clinical documentation. People & Performance Management Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training, reinforcing direction, coaching, and providing constructive feedback. Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitoring progress, and fostering a shared vision. Training & Personal Development Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification, as established by federal and state regulations. Stay up-to-date with developments in retail and management, pursuing best practices that enhance performance. Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training, including learning modules, as required by the Company. Communications Support the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff. Essential and Preferred Qualifications To be successful in this role, you'll need: A current Pharmacist license in the state where you're practicing. A strong understanding of pharmacy operations, including compounding, dispensing, and verifying prescribed medications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage patients and team members effectively. A commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and driving business success. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Preferred qualifications include: Previous experience working in a retail pharmacy or healthcare setting. Certifications or specialized training in areas such as immunizations, disease state management, or medication therapy management. A strong understanding of healthcare technology, including electronic health records and pharmacy management systems.
